Today was an enlightening day, and weird. Very weird. It started out normally, I had to do CIP as I had zero hours of CIP. We had to sell flags forthe breast cancer awareness. I did not want to open my golden mouth but it was still okay. Until me and Mel Lim hit the streets of Ang Mo Kio. No one wanted to donate, except for some good enlightened souls. Mostly they shook their heads before marching off or they just plain avoided us. After 45 minutes of asking for donations, we were so pissed that me, Mel ,Alicia and Joan decided to go to somewhere else, nmaely Novena. We figured we could sell flags at United Square.
That was when the weird things happened. We took an escalator up from the underpass, and since I was ahead of them, reached the top first, and saw these black coloured young adults waiting at the top, I walked past them, and they kept on whispering and staring at me. Then Mel and the rest came up and boom, they saw Mel and asked us to be models for them. Which Mel cleverly took advantage of the situation and told them that in exchange for modeling, they had to buy our flags. And they readily agreed. So they marched us to United Square, and typically, I was suspicious of them. Why would they stop people at the esclalator and ask them to be models? But my suspicion melted away once I saw we were headed to Jean Yip. JEAN YIP. They wanted us to be guinea pigs for some hair cut test and yes, we had free haircuts. FROM JEAN YIP. Which could cost a bomb. I did not want my hair cut or anything, so they just trimmed it and thinned it. and tied it for me. And although they were in training, it was not bad..in a way. Mel looked different, so did Joan. Alicia looked quite cute, and I became a samurai. I had the hair tied in such a high ponytail I looked like one from the Meiji Era. And they bought our flags, which was like killing two birds with one stone. Free haircut plus people bought our flags.
Rather enlightening...in a way.
